“Jingle Bells” is one of the most well-known and widely performed Christmas melodies in the world.

It was composed by James Lord Pierpont (1822-1893) and released in the fall of 1857 as “One Horse Open Sleigh.”

They have reported that they initially created it for a Sunday school choir; however, historians argue that it was much too “racy” (and secular) to be performed by a children’s church choir in the days when it was written.
