Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s CEO, has announced that the company’s parent name has been changed. The metaverse, according to Zuckerberg, will be the internet’s replacement.

He went on to say that everything will feel more real and vivid, with a strong sense of presence. He stated that the next iteration of the internet would be built around individuals.

Also, the way people attend online games and meetings will be redesigned to accommodate a shared feeling of place and presence.

Users will also be able to ‘teleport’ to a variety of new settings and entire planets, where they will be able to be present in ‘joyful and immersive’ ways.

Mark forecasts that in the next 5-10 years, the metaverse will be just as genuine and believable as the real world.
